Day 1 - Reykjavik
Fly direct to Iceland’s capital city Reykjavik (Population 121,000). From the airport, you will be transferred to your accommodation to settle in and tuck into some lunch – perhaps a bowl of Kjötsúpa (hearty traditional Icelandic meat soup) or the catch of the day.
From here, head out into Reykjavik to explore the sites, including: The old town centre, Icelandic Parliament, The cathedral, Reykjavik harbour with views of the bay, The Pearl (one of the country’s most striking landmarks), National Museum or Hofdi (the summit site of 1986 commemorating the end of the Cold War)
Day 2 - Reykjavik
Put on your hiking boots and venture out for a full day of exploration in Thorsmork Valley. The deep glacial valley is surrounded by tall mountains, glaciers and unbridged rivers.
Your tour guide will lead you to the waterfall Seljalandsfoss before continuing towards Thorsmork. You may also stop at Gígjökull, which is set upon a glacial lagoon.
Day 3 - Reykjavik
Take a full day Golden Circle tour. Starting at the Pingvellir National Park, the rift valley where the North American plate and the Eurasian plates meet. After seeing the valley from breathtaking viewpoints, have a stroll down to the first ever site of the Icelandic Parliament (930 AD).
The tour continues to Gullfoss, considered the most beautiful waterfall in the country as well as the Geysir geothermal area with its natural hot springs. The most active one Strokkur, erupts every few minutes. Your final stop will be at the Kerio crater before returning to Reykjavik.
